Colourstyle
Overview
This DMX controller is simple to operate and has functions which are not normally found on a controller of this size. This gives a higher degree of flexibility and the option of controlling more than just colour change units.
Features
- Infra-red remote handset available.
- TCP/IP Ethernet Connectivity (web server built in, library of telnet commands).
- Two full 512 channel DMX outputs.
- Includes library of DMX fixtures.
- Multi-lingual on screen information.
- Sound activation
- Built in astromonical time clock
- Large LCD screen.
- 3 configurable terminals, either volt free contact inputs or 1-10V analogue dimming outputs
DMX compatibility
Any DMX device can be used with this controller, if the fixture is not in the built in library then it can be set up by either inputting the information in through the front or connecting the controller to a network and uploading a new fixture library.
All the DMX output channels are configurable so that any DMX device can be used on any DMX address. Sequences can be easily programmed from individual scenes or from the initial setup wizard.
Wiring the Colourstyle is very simple. The low voltage supply from the power supply provided and the DMX output is taken from the terminals on the rear.
Operation of the Colourstyle
The front screen will usually be displaying at least three options, Favourites, Scene and Sequence.
A scene is a programmed set of values which are sent to the DMX device, for instance an LED driver. A scene could be set to be Red, another could be Green and another could be Blue. A sequence is a set of scenes that are linked to each other, for instance, it could run through the scenes above giving a sequence of Red, then Green and then Blue.
A sequence will have timing associated with the changes. The Colourstyle can have fade rate which is how long it takes to fade in and out of each scene and also a waiting time which is how long a scene is displayed before moving on to the next step. A sequence can also be set to run through a certain number of repeats or left to run continuously.
A favourite can be a scene or a sequence. These can also be selected by either an external trigger or by the time clock.
To access either a scene, sequence or favourite then all that is needed is to press the button adjacent to the that option, scroll to the desired scene or sequence using the thumbwheel and press the button under the thumbwheel. This will then generate the DMX output for that scene or sequence. More than one scene or sequence can be activated at one time so that fixtures in different areas can be changed without affecting other fixtures.
To exit back to the main screen then press the top left button until the correct screen is displayed. If no buttons are pressed in 30 seconds the display will revert back to its normal operating screen.
The master brightness and the master speed can be altered by the thumbwheel when the main screen is displayed. Master Brightness and master speed control is toggled by using the bottom right button.
Scenes and sequences that are saved as favourites can be set to timed events, either by the internal clock, by sunrise or sunset. These favourites can also be triggered by the volt free contact inputs.
