The Castle, Napier University
Overview
Site of the original dwelling house of James Napier, attributed as the 'father' of the Logarithmic Scale, this room was converted for use as a meeting place for the University Campus.
In common with many of the older University buildings, all are 'listed' properties, protected by Historic Scotland and subject to all the building alteration constraints this places upon them. In this instance, not only were additional wiring points not possible, but the original stone wall fixing positions had to be re-used exactly.
The existing wall mounted GLS filament lighting was replaced with specially manufactured high frequency dimmable Senator luminaires achieving the design criteria of 300 lux.
