Case Study : Edmonton Green Library, Enfield

Edmonton Green Library

Ingleton Wood LLP have selected Apollo Lighting for many of their prestigious projects which include education and healthcare sectors, but the project for Edmonton Green Library was of particular significance.

The library at Edmonton Green is an extensive public resource spanning two floors and, in addition to its comprehensive selection of books and magazines, it provides the local community with access to around 100 PCs and services including scan, photocopy, print and fax alongside spaces to sit and study or read. Unlimited Wi-Fi access and charging points are also available on both floors. .

Quiet spaces

A complete refurbishment of the existing library was undertaken, including new ceilings and replacement of all lighting. On a tight timescale, Apollo Lighting was chosen to provide all the lighting fixtures for the project for reliability of customer service, deliveries and suitable lead-times on all fittings.

Main entrance area

Architectural features in the building led to an array of lighting styles to be used. The main entrance opens with an impressive staircase and a 5m high ceiling, and is lit using nine, 1800mm diameter Kingsway Halo fittings. The centre of each Kingsway Halo holds a circular ceiling disc containing the emergency lighting components, adding style and functionality to the installation.

Staircases lit with Elegance S8 luminiaires

The staircase is lit using wall mounted Elegance S8 fittings and to maintain this high-end feel, all meeting rooms have the Orbit Flare; a variation on our Smooth Flare range.

Meeting and conference rooms

In the main library, styles include continuous lengths of Vadra R fittings, resulting in a sleek and contemporary feel. With a trapezium shape entrance and numerous meeting spaces, the library utilised the Vadra R fitting to excellent effect allowing specific areas to be lit as desired by the client.

Continuous run lighting

Each section of Vadra R was commissioned during manufacture. This pre-commissioning ensured consistent luminance along the length, meaning that each associated run of fittings was packaged in-house as families. The production of this, whilst complex, is what Apollo Lighting is known for; being equipped to produce complex solutions for ease of installation on site.
