Senior Product Design and Development Engineer

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Product Design and Development Engineer to join the Technical Department within the Apollo Lighting Team.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Senior Product Design and Development Engineer will take the a lead role in new product design and will be responsible for all the functional aspects of new and existing products within the ever expanding product range.

Working with the Technical Manager, you will help to realise and implement the product roadmap, from concept to inception, this role affords a large degree of autonomy and influence.

The ideal candidate will be degree educated in a product design related subject and have considerable product design work experience. You will have strong design creativity and feel comfortable in realising product concepts.

Experience in the following areas will be highly beneficial :

  • 3D modelling using SolidWorks
  • Designing injection moulded parts
  • Designing extrusion, both aluminium and polycarbonate
  • Design for manufacture and assembly
  • Prototyping and development
  • Budget and costing preparation

The ability to work within the team and contribute to a range of technical disciplines including BOM creation, the generation of information datasheets and providing strong technical assistance and support to both internal and external clients.

Apollo Lighting invest heavily in research and development. As such, the role will entail technological research and exploration using known and potential suppliers and methods to enable Apollo Lighting to remain at the forefront of the industry.

Ongoing investment in training will help the candidate develop in the role.

The role is supported by a Technical Support Engineer.

You need to be an initiative taker, with clear focus on quality, that is highly organised, an excellent communicator and driven for results.
